Construction Company Settles

New York - A contractor for a construction company based in New York has decided to settle with OSHA by paying the large fines which accumulated over $700,000. Back in June of last year the company was cited for fall hazards with fines up to $877,000. Besides paying the fines for the citations given, he has decided to take additional actions to fix the cited dangers. Here are the proposed changes the company will be making in addition to paying the fines:
-Provide a full-time chief of construction operations and have a safety director to oversee the construction and superintendents.
-They will provide a full-time safety director on the site of every big project, and have a director check on the smaller jobs at least one time every week.
-They will take away pay for the superintendents who do not obey the OSHA standards
-They will make a thorough review of all currents construction jobs, including looking at the possible hazards for each phase of construction
-They will devise new safety/health plans
-They will finalize the safety plans before work begins onsite
-They will provide better safety training for supervisors and other employees
-They will also be allowing the officers to check on their construction sites without warrants for 4 years and give them information an all their projects if needed
